Fast Money Blog- 8/7/26

Overall it was another winning week on Wall Street as the Dow hit record highs early in the week and oil prices dropped amidst potential peace talks with Iran.

This week's Highlight:

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) Q2 2026 Earnings

On Tuesday, August 4th, Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. (AMD) released outstanding Q2 2026 earnings.

Top-line quarterly revenue came in at $11.54 billion, a record high, up 50% year over year. Accelerating demand for AI infrastructure has made AMD’s Data Center the primary driver of the company’s revenue and earnings growth

Q2 Revenue broke down like this:

AMD’s Data Center segment, which includes GPU’s, AI chips and data processors, brought in $6.7 billion, up 107% year-over-year.

AMD’s Client and Gaming segment, which includes chips for consumer devices such as laptops, gaming PCs and game consoles, rose 6% year-over-year to $3.8 billion for the quarter.

AMD also saw growth in their Embedded segment which rose 19% year-over-year to $977 million for the quarter. This is the segment that addresses the computer processing needs of industries such as automotive, industrial and medical, by delivering components with a long lifecycle and support.

Like we’ve seen before, Wall Street institutions took profits post-earnings which drove the stock price to drop. No matter, AMD is a dominant player in the tech sector, bringing in enormous amounts of money. I see the stock continuing to rise over the next 2 to 3 years. Just remember that if you are going to trade AMD, be prepared to deal with extreme volatility.
