As I’ve said many times, the stock market doesn’t like uncertainty, and we’ve seen this play out over the past 5 trading days. The Dow and S&P dropped in the wake of the U.S.’s involvement in the war in Iran and the subsequent rise in the price of oil, coupled with today’s Labor Department data showing a jump in the unemployment rate.
Costco Earnings
In other news, Costco Wholesale Corporation (COST) released its Q2 2026 earnings with quarterly revenue of $69.6 billion, up 9.1% year-over-year.
Overall, comparable store sales rose 7.4% in Q2, led by stores outside America.
Costco also saw strong gains in its online business, which saw sales surge 18.3% year-over-year. And revenue from Membership fees themselves was $1.36 billion, up about 14% from a year ago.
While other retailers are struggling, Costco’s business model with its loyal members, continues to show that value along with the strong Kirkland brand make this company a winner.
Because of Costco’s ability to raise their revenue consistently, the stock price has gone from around $318 per share 5 years ago, to today’s price of $995 per share.
