It seems as if volatility is sticking around, as this week on Wall Street continued the trend we’ve seen over the past few weeks.

As we are coming upon the earnings releases from all the major companies in the Dow and S&P, that is where most of Wall Street’s attention will be.

On Wednesday, July 22nd, Alphabet, Inc. (GOOG) reported their Q2 2026 earnings, which were truly outstanding.

GOOG’s top line quarterly revenue of $119.8 billion, was up 24% year-over-year, marking the 12th consecutive quarter of double-digit revenue growth.

Here’s how Google’s Q2 Revenue Broke Down:

Overall Google Services revenues for the quarter increased 15% year-over-year to $94.5 billion, with Search alone bringing in $63.3 billion in revenue, up 17% over a year ago.

YouTube Ads contributed $11.06 billion, up 13% year-over-year.

But Google’s Cloud revenue was the star of the show, up a whopping 82% year-over-year to $24.8 billion, driven by demand for AI infrastructure and AI solutions. Google also said its Gemini App now has 950 million monthly active users.

Along with major players like Meta, McDonalds and Uber, other institutions like banks, insurance companies and the U.S. Government all use Google’s cloud platform for data storage. For ease of convenience most major companies rent cloud platforms instead of building their own.

So, Tyrone, why did GOOG stock drop after releasing such strong earnings?

The short answer is profit taking. For institutions it’s more beneficial to trade rather than hold. They buy the stock on its way up, sell it off and repeat. This said, I expect the stock to retrace in about 12 trading days.

The bottom line is that GOOG stock is a great long term hold if you can withstand the volatility.

Bonus Note: Substantial wealth is being quietly built in The Coca-Cola Company (KO), The Travelers Companies, Inc. (TRV), The Allstate Corporation (ALL). This is why you need to own these stocks for the long-term.
